Faith is for the Impossible
Anything you need from God can be yours, but the currency to receive it will always be FAITH. Not good works or money or anything else. It’s faith that is the currency!
What is faith for? It’s not just for keeping your car running, buying food for your table, or paying your bills. These may be the beginning points, but faith isn’t to be left there. Faith is for bigger things.
For example, faith can receive healing of a terminal illness, or money to meet a very large obligation or debt. Perhaps most importantly, faith was given to each one of us to change our world.
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. Rom 12:3 NKJV
Every one of us was given the same measure of faith at the new birth. And every one of us must steward that faith—develop it and increase it in order to change our world. Can you imagine if every believer would move into their full potential in faith during their lifetime? Our world would truly be changed!
A major characteristic of faith is that faith is for the impossible! Things we can’t do in our own ability and with our own means require faith. What things are impossible to do without faith?
· It is impossible to be saved without faith, because salvation comes through believing and confessing.
· It’s impossible to fulfill the plan of God without faith, because God never calls us to do that which is possible without His help.
· It is impossible to be healed of terminal diseases without faith.
· It’s impossible to please God without faith, as Hebrews 11:6 tells us.
Faith is the only way to accomplish the impossible. There are no limits to faith. There are only limits to how we think. Actually, God would like us to have so much faith that it becomes violent.
And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize — a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion]. Matt 11:12 AMPC
We see this is true through some of the examples in Hebrews 11:
[W]ho through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again.
Heb 11:33-35 NKJV
Again, FAITH IS FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE! So, if you are facing what seems like an impossible situation today, you should rejoice! That situation is exactly what your faith is for!
Three Steps Toward Faith for the Impossible:
1. Know what faith is.
God is not ignorant. He is intelligent. He wants us to seek out and find truth. There is no faith apart from the known will of God.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1 NKJV
The Amplified puts it this way:
NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. Heb 11:1 AMPC
We see that faith is for things that are not yet revealed to the senses. If you can see it and feel it, you don’t need faith for it. Your faith is the evidence that what you had only hoped for is now yours!
Sometimes when I’m believing God for something, like healing of symptoms, I will confess all throughout the day:
“Thank you, Lord, that I have my healing now. My faith is giving substance to my healing.”
2. Accept what God says as absolute truth.
If we cannot accept what God says as truth, we cannot enter the realm of faith. When we walk by faith, we no longer rely on this world’s realm—what the eyes see, the ears hear, the fingers touch. Instead, we place ourselves into another realm—the world of faith!
You must accept the Word of God as absolute truth, or you won’t have victory in this world. Always keep in mind that God is truth, He is not a liar. If He says it, we already have it!
There will be times when your circumstances contradict what God has said. You will receive nothing from God while disagreeing with Him. That is why you need FAITH.
3. Realize that faith is an act.
Faith is not hope. Rather, faith gives substance to things hoped for. You can hope to be a millionaire and die a pauper. But you cannot have faith to be a millionaire and die a pauper.
Hope folds its hands and dreams. But faith is an act. With faith there is always movement. Hope sits and waits for God to do something. Faith finds what it has in its hand and begins to move in the right direction.
How do we move in the right direction? One of the greatest acts of faith is speaking out what you believe in your heart. In describing the God kind of faith, Jesus taught us this:
So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:22-24 NKJV
Faith will courageously say what the Word of God says. Faith will resist thoughts that come to sway you off of believing.
Faith obtains promises. Faith will receive the impossible!
