If you are a child of God, there is enough power in you right now to completely destroy every trace of disease and pain in your body! Not someday. Not when you feel more spiritual. Not after someone else prays for you. Right now! Have you questioned whether or not God will heal you? If so, I want you to know that the question is actually, “Will I recognize what is already inside me?” When we recognize that the power to be well is already in us, we will stop questioning the will of God regarding healing. We don’t have to question His will! That is because Jesus was the will of God in action, and He always desired to heal people He encountered. I challenge you to find one place where Jesus told someone, “I’m sorry, but it’s not My will to heal you this time.” You won’t find such an account, because Jesus never turned anyone away who came to Him for healing. In Matthew chapter 8 alone, we find many examples of the will of God in action. In every case, Jesus responded with compassion and healing, no matter who came to Him. He did not differentiate between a hopeless leper and a prominent centurion’s servant. In fulfillment of prophecy, Jesus healed ALL who were sick. What about today? Just as much as Jesus was willing to heal these individuals, He is willing to heal you. I’m aware of the arguments against what I’m teaching. But that is because some theologians have made the mistake of fabricating doctrine based upon experience instead of upon the written Word of God. His Word is the only basis for accurate teaching! And He made it clear that healing is for today, too! One false argument is that because some people do not receive healing that means God may will for some to be sick. This is one example of making erroneous doctrine out of experience instead of the Word. There are many reasons why some do not receive healing, and none of these are because God doesn’t want people healed! I want to share some compelling scriptures with you about your body. These verses validate the will of God and the power of God in you. Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 1 Cor 3:16-17 NKJV We see from this scripture that if you are a child of God, your body is the temple of God. In the Old Testament, there was only one temple. The Holy of Holies, which was the innermost section, was where the Spirit of God dwelt. No human ever had the Spirit of God in him under the Old Covenant, and only a select few had the Spirit of God upon them for various works of service. Moses was given a strict set of instructions about how this temple was to be built and maintained. The slightest error could cause sudden death. Now, under the New Covenant, those who are born again are the ones who house the Spirit of God. And just as God was very precise about the temple that housed His Spirit in the Old Covenant, He is very particular about the temple that houses His Spirit under the New Covenant! Let’s read 1 Corinthians 3:17 again: If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are. 1 Cor 3:17 If God will destroy the person who defiles His temple, why would He ever defile your body by willing that you be sick or diseased? Sickness defiles the body. Disease corrupts. Pain invades. These things are not holy. Why would a perfect, holy God want to dwell in a diseased body? He would NOT! And neither do we want to! Furthermore, God’s plan is that His Spirit in us would completely drive out every work of the devil. Let’s look at what Rom 8:11 says from the AMPC: And if the Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, [then] He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you. Imagine how much power was present to raise Jesus from the dead after He paid the penalty for the sins of the entire world! That same power now dwells in you if you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior! Jesus told His disciples in Acts 1:8: “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” That word “power” was translated from the Greek word “dunamis” which means miracle working power. It’s where we get our word “dynamite” from. If you have a disease or a pain in your body, it would help you to begin seeing this power working in you and driving it all out. See His power circulating through your cells. See divine energy restoring what is damaged. As you imagine His power in your body, faith releases the power that is already present. One of the greatest ways to release your faith is by confessing what God has done and is doing in you. Now, release your faith through confession by proclaiming: “The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in me. Thank you, Lord, that your power in me is annihilating every trace of disease and pain in my body, in Jesus’ Name.” We pray that this blog post was a blessing to you! I want to share five things God desires to do for YOU! You see, it is God’s heart to do great things for you, if you will only allow Him to. We can see all five of these things in Psalm 91. It is one of my favorite passages in the entire Bible and has been a source of comfort and a rescue to my life repeatedly over the years. I start almost every day with this precious Psalm, meditating upon the things the Lord is doing and will do for me as I put my trust in Him. As you begin to see the goodness of God, your faith will soar, and you will receive your needs abundantly supplied. Let’s start with verses 1-3 from the Amplified Classic translation: HE WHO dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust! For [then] He will deliver you. Ps 91:1-3 We can see that the promises in Psalm 91 are conditional. One of these conditions is that the promises are for those who DWELL in the secret place of the Most High. Dwelling in the secret place means to spend daily time doing spiritual things, such as reading our Bibles, talking to God, and being sensitive to His presence. The five promises we are going to study today could be called the “I Will’s” of God. They are specifically found in verses 14-16. Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation. Psalm 91:14-16 It is helpful to understand the meaning of the phrase “I will” in the original languages. A leading Greek and Hebrew scholar taught that these languages contain idioms for which there is no exact expression in English. For instance, in John 14:13: And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. The translators used the words “I will” because that is the strongest assertion you can make in the English language. However, here is what it literally says in the Greek: If you will ask anything in My Name, if I don’t have it, I’ll make it for you! God will make it for you!! And thank God, He can! Let’s begin looking at each of the five “I Will’s” in this passage from Psalm 91. 1. I will deliver him. Our God is a delivering God. He told Abraham and his descendants that they would be sojourners in a foreign land for 400 years, but He also promised, “I will bring them out with a strong hand.” God doesn’t forget His promises. He raised up Moses and brought them out. And He’s still the same delivering God today. According to Acts 10:38, God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Satan is the oppressor. Jesus is still the Deliverer! 2. I will set him on high, because he has known My name. The Amplified Classic translation draws this out more clearly. …because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never. Ps 91:14 Personally knowing the attributes of God will help us to do the right thing no matter how much pressure is on us to do the wrong thing. We know that if we act honorably, God will honor us. Others may try to malign your reputation or lie about you. But God will see to it that you are vindicated. He will promote you and set you on high. 3. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him. Psalm 91:15 tells us God will answer us when we pray. God is a prayer-answering God. We see Him answer prayer continually throughout the Bible. The New Testament echoes this: Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15 NKJV I keep a prayer journal every year where I record my petitions. When I reach this place in Psalm 91:15, I go to that journal and thank God for all the things I’ve asked Him for. He is faithful to provide everything you ask for if it’s according to His will. 4. I will be with him in trouble (and I will deliver him). Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all. Ps 34:19 NKJV The Lord never promised us we wouldn’t have trouble in this life. In fact, He warned us that we would have trouble in this world, and especially because we are His children. However, He also promised us that no matter how much trouble we have, He will always be with us. If we trust Him, He will deliver us from it. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] John 16:33 AMPC 5. I will satisfy him with long life. Psalm 91:16 is referring to length of days on earth. We see long life in the Old Testament, where many of the patriarchs lived well beyond 100 years. Long life is tied to our obedience. My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands; For length of days and long life And peace they will add to you. Prov 3:1-2 NKJV So often people want to rebel against God’s ways and plan, thinking that somehow they know better than God. But He knows best! That’s why obeying God always pays rich dividends! I have seen it repeatedly throughout my life. The New Testament also promises long life as a result of honor and obedience: Honor (esteem and value as precious) your father and your mother—this is the first commandment with a promise. [Ex 20:12.] That all may be well with you and that you may live long on the earth. Eph 6:2-3 AMPC As you dwell in the secret place of the Most High and trust Him, God will make His promises good in your life in these five areas. We pray that this blog post was a blessing to you! Is your body afflicted with disease or pain today? Are your finances in a mess? Do you have a difficulty that is causing you anxiety or a lack of sleep? If so, I have good news for you: no need you may be facing is bigger than the God I serve! Have you ever heard the song, “He’s got the whole world in His hand?” When I hear that song, I picture a globe of the earth in the palm of God’s hand. That image reminds us that nothing is too difficult for God to handle. No matter if it’s sickness, finances, relationships—anything! It’s not just that God has the ability to handle it. He longs to deliver you from your difficulty. It’s His deep desire. Let’s look at some scriptural truths that reveal God’s character and His attitude toward our needs. Gen 17:1 says: When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.” In Hebrew, God’s declaration is, “I AM El Shaddai.” El Shaddai means “The All Sufficient One” or “The God Who is more than enough”! El Shaddai is one of the seven covenant names through which God revealed Himself to Israel. All throughout the Old Testament, God revealed Himself as the God Who is more than enough. For example, when the children of Israel departed from Egypt after being slaves for 400 years, they came to the shore of the Red Sea. There they became desperate: angry Egyptians behind them, a sea in front of them, and mountains on either side. It looked like a hopeless situation. But God was more than enough! When Moses lifted his rod, God parted the sea long enough for the Israelites to pass through. Not only did they cross to safety, but when the Egyptians tried to follow them, they drowned as the sea returned to normal. God proved Himself to be El Shaddai! He could deliver His people because of Moses’ faith and because He is the God Who is more than enough! Another time Israel was fighting a battle against their enemies. If night fell, they would be in danger of losing the battle. But El Shaddai was with them—and more than enough! When Joshua commanded the sun and moon to stand still, God stopped the universe from rotating. Night couldn’t fall, and therefore Israel didn’t lose the battle. God could do this because of Joshua’s faith and because He is the God Who is more than enough! There are many more such stories in the Old Testament, but now let’s look at the God Who is more than enough in the New Testament. In John 14:9 Jesus said, “He who has seen Me has seen the Father.” He told the Jews in John 8:56, “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see My day, and he saw it and was glad.” They answered, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?” Jesus replied, “Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” Jesus was pointing back to how God revealed Himself to Moses at the burning bush: as the great God I AM. Jesus was telling them that they were looking at God. Jesus demonstrated in His earth walk that He was the great God I AM. The same God who revealed Himself as El Shaddai in the Old Testament came to earth in the form of His Son. Jesus was and is More Than Enough! Here are just a few examples where He demonstrated this and which show He is more than enough for us today! Jesus fed the multitudes with just a few loaves and fish. Your need is not too big for Him now. Jesus healed the sick and restored sight to the blind. Your disease is not too big for Him now. Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave after he had been dead four days. Death is not too big for Him now. We cannot and should not relegate all that Jesus did to the distant past. He can and will do those things today, because He is El Shaddai! When Jesus suffered on the cross, died, and went to hell for three days, He became our complete substitute. He paid the price we could not pay. Satan and his demons thought they defeated God’s purpose, but they were mistaken. On the third morning, the God Who is more than enough said, “It is enough!” Death is of the enemy. Satan had the power of death. But God raised Jesus from the dead and changed everything. Col 2:15 says: Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Jesus announced that He was the great God I AM, and after He rose from the dead, He told John in the book of Revelation, “I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.” Rev 1:18 NKJV Now we can receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Heaven, because Jesus was and is More Than Enough! It should comfort you to know that anything you are facing today can be resolved by El Shaddai! He is not the great God, I WAS, or I WILL Be. Jesus is the great God I AM. Did you know the words you plant in your heart and speak today will shape your tomorrow? Most people have no clue how much power they have over their destiny. I was certainly in that category at one time. But after becoming a Christian, I learned one of the most powerful lessons: how powerful my words are. The Bible has a lot to say about words. Words will determine if you are sick or well. Words will determine if you are poor or rich. Words will determine if you will have sadness or joy. Today I want to look at one of the most important teachings of Jesus about this topic. It’s the parable of the sower. Looking at this parable more closely, we’ll see that the Word is the constant, unchanging component. But there’s also a determining factor in what is produced—the soil. The soil is the condition of the heart of man. “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And it happened, as he sowed, that some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds of the air came and devoured it. Some fell on stony ground, where it did not have much earth; and immediately it sprang up because it had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away. And some seed fell among thorns; and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no crop. But other seed fell on good ground and yielded a crop that sprang up, increased and produced: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.” And He said to them, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!” Mark 4:3-9 NKJV Jesus taught the multitudes using parables because God’s most precious commodity—His Word—is for those who are truly hungry or interested. Jesus always gives people enough to draw them, but ultimately, each one must decide how badly they want understanding and wisdom. He is the One who said not to cast your pearls before swine. Mark 4:10-11 says, But when He was alone, those around Him with the twelve asked Him about the parable. And He said to them, “To you it has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but to those who are outside, all things come in parables.” Did you notice that more people than the twelve disciples surrounded Him? They wanted further understanding. I believe you are reading this today because you are interested in further understanding God’s Word. Now, here is the next statement Jesus made: And He said to them, “Do you not understand this parable? How then will you understand all the parables?” Mark 4:13 NKJV Jesus is saying that understanding this parable is paramount to understanding any other parables. The Amplified Classic version brings out more in the next verse. “The sower sows the Word.” Mark 4:14 AMPC We see that the Word is being compared to a seed that is sown. How is it sown? By speaking it! And the sower is the one who speaks the Word. Sometimes that sower is the preacher. Most often, though, the sower is ME, MYSELF and I! “The ones along the path are those who have the Word sown [in their hearts], but when they hear, Satan comes at once and [by force] takes away the message which is sown in them.” Mark 4:15 AMPC We see here that the soil the seed is sown into is the heart of man. That soil is created to accept seed, whether the seed is good or bad. If you’ve ever had a yard or a garden, you have probably discovered that weeds grow without any effort. The soil doesn’t tell the weed, “Hey, I’m only for growing vegetables or flowers.” The soil is designed to grow whatever is planted in it. In the same way, our hearts our programmed to receive and produce whatever is sown into them. This is how every one of us has reached the place we are today. And the words that we have believed and spoken have created the world we currently live in. The good news is that we can change our world through changing the seeds we sow. Let’s see what else Jesus had to say in the rest of the parable. “And in the same way the ones sown upon stony ground are those who, when they hear the Word, at once receive and accept and welcome it with joy; And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away. And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless. And those sown on the good (well-adapted) soil are the ones who hear the Word and receive and accept and welcome it and bear fruit—some thirty times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some [even] a hundred times as much. Mark 4:16-20 AMPC Many times people wonder why they are not receiving what the Word of God promises. This parable says 75% of those who hear the Word never produce what the Word offers. The parable also gives reasons why they don’t produce: 1. They don’t pay attention to the Word. 2. They allow themselves to be offended. 3. They allow cares, anxieties, and worry to overtake them. 4. They are distracted from the Word. 5. They prefer other activities over time in the Word, prayer, and church commitment. When we allow these things to take precedence over our time in the Word, other things get into the soil of our hearts. Because our hearts are programmed to receive what gets into them, we will not have what the Word says if we don’t take time to put the Word in. Jesus said: “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45 NKJV We see from this verse that what gets into the soil of our heart in abundance is what will come out of our mouth. In essence, what you say is what you are sowing. Therefore, what you SOW is what you get! If you are ready to change the circumstances of your life, then it would be good to take heed to this message. Begin sowing the good Word of God into your heart and keep the weeds out! As you guard your heart and mouth, you will find that a better crop starts growing and you will experience the good life that Jesus came to give! Anything you need from God can be yours, but the currency to receive it will always be FAITH. Not good works or money or anything else. It’s faith that is the currency! What is faith for? It’s not just for keeping your car running, buying food for your table, or paying your bills. These may be the beginning points, but faith isn’t to be left there. Faith is for bigger things. For example, faith can receive healing of a terminal illness, or money to meet a very large obligation or debt. Perhaps most importantly, faith was given to each one of us to change our world. For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith. Rom 12:3 NKJV Every one of us was given the same measure of faith at the new birth. And every one of us must steward that faith—develop it and increase it in order to change our world. Can you imagine if every believer would move into their full potential in faith during their lifetime? Our world would truly be changed! A major characteristic of faith is that faith is for the impossible! Things we can’t do in our own ability and with our own means require faith. What things are impossible to do without faith? · It is impossible to be saved without faith, because salvation comes through believing and confessing. · It’s impossible to fulfill the plan of God without faith, because God never calls us to do that which is possible without His help. · It is impossible to be healed of terminal diseases without faith. · It’s impossible to please God without faith, as Hebrews 11:6 tells us. Faith is the only way to accomplish the impossible. There are no limits to faith. There are only limits to how we think. Actually, God would like us to have so much faith that it becomes violent. And from the days of John the Baptist until the present time, the kingdom of heaven has endured violent assault, and violent men seize it by force [as a precious prize — a share in the heavenly kingdom is sought with most ardent zeal and intense exertion]. Matt 11:12 AMPC We see this is true through some of the examples in Hebrews 11: [W]ho through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again. Heb 11:33-35 NKJV Again, FAITH IS FOR THE IMPOSSIBLE! So, if you are facing what seems like an impossible situation today, you should rejoice! That situation is exactly what your faith is for! Three Steps Toward Faith for the Impossible: 1. Know what faith is. God is not ignorant. He is intelligent. He wants us to seek out and find truth. There is no faith apart from the known will of God. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Heb 11:1 NKJV The Amplified puts it this way: NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. Heb 11:1 AMPC We see that faith is for things that are not yet revealed to the senses. If you can see it and feel it, you don’t need faith for it. Your faith is the evidence that what you had only hoped for is now yours! Sometimes when I’m believing God for something, like healing of symptoms, I will confess all throughout the day: “Thank you, Lord, that I have my healing now. My faith is giving substance to my healing.” 2. Accept what God says as absolute truth. If we cannot accept what God says as truth, we cannot enter the realm of faith. When we walk by faith, we no longer rely on this world’s realm—what the eyes see, the ears hear, the fingers touch. Instead, we place ourselves into another realm—the world of faith! You must accept the Word of God as absolute truth, or you won’t have victory in this world. Always keep in mind that God is truth, He is not a liar. If He says it, we already have it! There will be times when your circumstances contradict what God has said. You will receive nothing from God while disagreeing with Him. That is why you need FAITH. 3. Realize that faith is an act. Faith is not hope. Rather, faith gives substance to things hoped for. You can hope to be a millionaire and die a pauper. But you cannot have faith to be a millionaire and die a pauper. Hope folds its hands and dreams. But faith is an act. With faith there is always movement. Hope sits and waits for God to do something. Faith finds what it has in its hand and begins to move in the right direction. How do we move in the right direction? One of the greatest acts of faith is speaking out what you believe in your heart. In describing the God kind of faith, Jesus taught us this: So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:22-24 NKJV Faith will courageously say what the Word of God says. Faith will resist thoughts that come to sway you off of believing. Faith obtains promises. Faith will receive the impossible! Are you facing a situation that has been stubbornly lingering? Perhaps symptoms of sickness or pain in your body, or a financial need, or trouble in a relationship? And you’ve been standing on the Word of God, praying, listening to messages, and quoting scriptures—but there’s no change yet? Then you need answers! The Bible instructs us on what to do in those situations: Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Eph 6:13 AMPC This tells us we are not to have any quitting sense! We are to continue to stand our ground and never give up. However, it is imperative that while we are standing our ground we seek the counsel of the Holy Spirit about any changes that we might need to make to help us receive our answer. If things are not changing over a reasonable period of time, then probably something has to change. The Bible says God never changes. So we need to humble ourselves and seek the Lord for instructions. This is why I began a series on how to be led by the Holy Spirit. God is not withholding any good thing, but sometimes we fail to hear what He is leading us to do to receive our answers. I pray these short teachings help you learn to recognize and follow the Holy Spirit’s leadings. I encourage you to go back and read the previous blogs, where I laid a foundation for what I’m about to teach today. First, I want you to see that Jesus called the Holy Spirit the Helper. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever. John 14:16 NKJV His greatest help comes in the form of guidance. For instance, He may lead you to stop eating a certain food, see a certain doctor, invest in a certain entity, or take a certain action regarding a relationship. You may wonder, “How will I recognize these leadings?” I believe the number one way the Holy Spirit leads every believer is through the inward witness. If believers wait for some spectacular leading or an audible voice, they will be misled in life. The inward witness is reliable. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Rom 8:16 NKJV One of the most important things that we need assurance of is our salvation, and we have that assurance through the inward witness. If this is the way we are convinced of our salvation, then it stands to reason it’s also the way we are assured for every other area of our life. We have all had situations where we made a bad decision, and then later said to ourselves, “I knew I shouldn’t have done that!” How did we know? There was a witness on the inside trying to warn us not to do it. Some have described the inward witness this way: Yes or go ahead – a green light or velvety feeling in your spirit. No or don’t do it – a red light, check, or stop signal in your spirit. If we take some quiet time in prayer, we can simply ask questions that require a “yes” or “no” answer and look for the witness on it. As a child of God, we have the advantage of having a safe guide in our spirits. The devil can try to bring leadings from the outside, like through fleeces. But he cannot lead us through our spirit man. God does! Some have thought they needed to seek a prophet for answers. In the Old Testament, people received guidance through the prophets because they did not have the spirit of God in them. In the New Covenant, though, we do have the spirit of God dwelling in us, so the ministry of the prophet now is mainly to confirm what people already have in their own spirits. Romans 8:14 says, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. Notice the verse does not say as many as are led by prophets. I’ve seen people shipwreck their lives by following instructions from so-called prophets about major life decisions, instead of taking time to hear for themselves from the Holy Spirit. I have a family member who married someone because a prophet prophesied they should. I tried to warn them, but they didn’t listen. That marriage was an abusive nightmare that ended in divorce. Never depend on another person to determine the will of God for your life, because you’re the one who must live with the results. Another common way the Lord leads us is through the inward voice of our own spirit. This is like a still, small voice. Your spirit man has a voice and he will often speak short phrases or words to you from the innermost part of you. For example, if you need healing, the Lord may speak a phrase to you to help you receive it, like “Stop eating such and such a food,” or “Start praising Me throughout the day.” I want to emphasize that these leadings are the most common way the Lord guides, and they are dependable. If you want to be led, learn to give attention to your spirit. This requires daily time in His presence, meditating upon His Word, praying, and then quieting your mind. God wants you to receive. He will help you in that. So NEVER, NEVER give up! Many people have written to us saying, “I’ve tried everything I know, and I still have sickness and pain in my body. What can I do?” Let me begin by stating this: Divine healing is not a formula. Divine healing flows from an intimate relationship with the Lord. Relationship, not rules, is our key to healing. God wants everyone to receive healing just as He wants a deep relationship with each of us. He has not made it difficult to receive healing. But it does require being sensitive to the quiet instructions of the Holy Spirit. We receive His instructions during intimate times in the Lord’s presence. That’s what will lead us out of disease and into health. Our lives tend to be filled with noise and distractions, which drown out the Holy Spirit’s subtle leading unless we quiet our minds and surroundings. We all need daily, quality time in worship, prayer, and meditation in order to hear specifics regarding our health. Everything we receive from God comes through the help of the Holy Spirit. Because hearing from the Holy Spirit is so pertinent to receiving healing, and any other help, I began teaching on this subject in previous blogs. Let me repeat some key points here. Man is a spirit, though he lives in a body and has a mind and will. We were created in the image of God, and God is a spirit. God does not lead us through our soul or our body, because He is not a mind or a body. He always leads us through our spirit. Divine healing is not received in our mind or our body. It must be received in our spirit before it will flow to our body. Divine instructions that coach us in receiving healing don’t come through our soul or mind. So, to be led by the Spirit, we must learn to differentiate between the spirit and the soul. The spirit is the innermost part of man—the “real” man, who will live eternally. It is the spirit that becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus. The soul, however, comprises the mind, will, and emotions of man. It is not his innermost being at all. The soul is not saved when you become a new creation. Rather, the saving of the soul is a process, as James explains. Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. James 1:21 NKJV You’ve probably heard testimonies of people receiving salvation in which many say something like, “So many souls were saved at the outreach last week.” Or “Our church has a great soul winning program.” We understand what is meant by such statements even though technically souls weren’t getting saved at those events, but spirits were. What did James mean by “save your souls” then? Keep in mind he was writing to BELIEVERS. Believers don’t need to get saved, since they already are. James was telling the early believers that they needed to get their minds (part of the soul) saved. And how is this done? By receiving “with meekness the implanted Word of God.” You see, the better you know the Word, and the more you have the Word in your heart, the better you will be led by the Spirit of God. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Rom 12:2 NKJV According to this verse, as your mind gets renewed to the Word of God, you will be able to determine what the will of God is. If you don’t renew your mind with God’s Word, however, you will become conformed to the world’s way of thinking. Unfortunately, many Christians think and talk like unbelievers—and wonder why they have the same troubles! I believe one of the greatest needs of the Church is to have minds renewed with the Word of God. Why? Because you can only be led by the Holy Spirit to the degree that your mind is renewed to His Word. Too often, people don’t renew their minds to God’s Word. Then, when they perceive something in their unrenewed minds, they mistake that for the leading of the Spirit. It is not! The leading of the Spirit comes through a person’s spirit. Confusing the mind and the spirit will lead a person astray. This has happened to all of us at one time or another. Here’s what I do. When I need clarity or direction from God, I double up on my time meditating on the Word, speaking it, and listening to messages on it. As I renew my mind to His Word, things become so clear to me! This is a supernatural process. You can’t figure out with your mind how you begin to know things clearly. You perceive it in your spirit. I heard the story of an evangelist who was preaching to large crowds every night in a country where the weather was very hot. After a few days, he began to get dizzy. So he spoke healing scriptures and thanked God for his healing. Yet the dizziness continued. What he did next illustrates the message I’m trying to get across. When things did not change, the evangelist spent extra time in the Word and presence of the Lord and asked Him what to do. What do you think happened? After he had quieted his mind, the man heard very clearly in his spirit, “Put a little more salt on your food.” He obeyed those instructions that were coming from his spirit. The dizziness disappeared! It was as simple as following the Holy Spirit’s instructions! You may be just one instruction away from receiving your healing today. I want to encourage you to never give in to the devil’s attempts to keep sickness on you. Instead, - Double up on your time meditating on the Word of God. - Double up on praying. - Give yourself time to get quiet in His presence and listen for the Lord’s quiet promptings or instructions. This is God’s way of leading you out of trouble and into victory. He made it simple to receive help so you can easily receive it. He loves you! Even before the foundation of the world, God’s plan was for us to live the best life! It was His will and He made all the arrangements! What is the best life? One that includes health, peace, and financial provision. However, many believers don’t know this basic truth about the good life God desires for His people. And for those of us who do know these truths, we still sometimes don’t walk in them as we should. If you are serious about living a life that includes all God has for you, read on. One of the first truths to understand is that God is not withholding any good thing from us. On the contrary, He helps us receive those good things. His help shows how much He wants us to receive His goodness! How does He help us receive? By giving us His Holy Spirit. His Spirit lives in born again believers and guides us into all that God has provided for us. The help that we need to receive—our Helper—is always with us! However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. John 16:13 NKJV Sometimes we face situations that stubbornly linger. What are we to do then? It’s simple. We just learn to be led by the Holy Spirit, because He always guides us into victory if we will listen and follow His promptings. Even if a situation lingers, our help from the Holy Spirit doesn’t stop. We simply keep following Him, and the situation will ultimately change. Sometimes a situation looks complicated. But again, all we need is the Holy Spirit’s simple instructions. For example, following a simple instruction from Him aids us in receiving healing even if it looks like a complicated situation. Now, although the Holy Spirit lives in us, we still must learn to be led by Him if we are to benefit from the Greater One’s help. I encourage you to read last week’s blog if you haven’t already, because in it I laid a foundation for how to be led by the Holy Spirit. Here is a quick recap: God is a spirit. He is not a mind or a body. Therefore, anything we receive from Him, we receive first in our spirits. For example, healing is always received first in your spirit, and then it permeates your body. This is why we shouldn’t ever check our bodies to determine if we are healed. We check our spirits, because God leads us through our spirits. The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. Prov 20:27 NKJV I believe one of the reasons many Christians aren’t led by the Spirit is that they are more conscious of their souls and bodies than they are of their spirit man. Being too body conscious means our spirits aren’t receiving as well as they could. We’re thinking about our bodies instead of the Word of God. It’s His Word alone that strengthens our spirits—the place where we receive! We can’t focus on the disease in our body or on the doctor’s report and simultaneously focus on God’s Word. One focus will hinder us from receiving healing, the other helps us receive it! Another hindrance to receiving is by letting the mental realm dominate. We become more mental conscious when we live out of the mental realm. Those who are more intellectual especially tend to lean on their understanding instead of on God’s Word. Their minds dominate their spirits. God said clearly that we shouldn’t lean on our understanding. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. Prov 3:5-6 NKJV As we have seen, man is a spirit being. That’s why we need to be more spirit conscious. The more spirit conscious we are the more real God’s truths become to us. Here’s something that helps us understand this: · With my body, I contact the physical realm. · With my soul, I contact the emotional and intellectual realm. · With my spirit, I contact the spirit realm. Let’s look further at the difference between our soul and our spirit man. For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Heb 4:12 NKJV If our spirit and soul can be divided, they cannot be one and the same. It’s also important to note that only the Word of God can divide what is of our soul and what is of our spirit. The reason why many believers make poor decisions is because they are basing those decisions on the reasoning of the soul and mind, instead of on the subtle guidance of the Holy Spirit in them. To receive guidance that leads us into victory—including healing—we must be sensitive to what the Spirit is saying to us or directing us to do. How do we become more spirit conscious? It’s simple: put spiritual things first! We do this by spending much time meditating on the Word of God and praying in the Spirit. When I need an answer, I have found that spending extra time in the Word and prayer helps me to become more spirit conscious and therefore to receive my answer in my spirit. I want to look a little here at the value of speaking in other tongues. Paul said something that brings clarity to this subject: For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 1 Cor 14:14 NKJV When you pray in tongues, it comes from your spirit. The Holy Spirit resides in your spirit and gives your spirit the utterance, and then you speak it out. This is why the understanding is unfruitful. The mind doesn’t receive anything from praying in tongues. But your spirit receives! When you pray in tongues your spirit bypasses your mind. Any leading you receive from God will always come through your spirit. The more active your spirit is, the more you will pick up what the Holy Spirit is saying to you. So, the more time you give to praying in other tongues, the more direction you receive from the Holy Spirit. You will sense something rising up from down in your spirit. You will begin to know what you should do—not because your mind figured it out, but because your spirit is enlightening you! It’s impossible to receive all God has for you without the Helper that He provided. And the more conscious you are of that Helper in you the more help you can have. In many of my messages, I’ve taught that we must fill our hearts with God’s Word and then act like it is true in our lives. However, for many people, sickness and disease seem to linger for far longer than it should. What do we do in a case like this? We must seek the Lord and listen for His direction regarding our individual situation. This is why it is critical that we learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit. If you are a born again Christian, you have a tremendous weapon at your disposal. You have a Helper living in you – One who leads and guides you and shows you things to come. He is the great and mighty Holy Spirit, and His job is to lead us into a victorious life that glorifies God. He will especially lead us into healing and health! A very important foundational truth to understand is that man is a three-fold being. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness”… So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Gen 1:26-27 NKJV Because we have been made in the image and likeness of God, we are a spirit being. Jesus said in John 4:24 that God is a Spirit. God is not a mind and He is not a body. When God deals with us or heals us, it is always through our spirit. Too many people look to their bodies to see if they are healed. That is looking in the wrong place. We need to look to our spirits. Paul said this about man: …may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 NKJV Let’s look at this three-fold nature of man. 1. We are a spirit –this is the real man, the inward man, who lives eternally. Peter calls the spirit “the hidden man”. But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price. 1 Peter 3:4 KJV In many places when the Bible speaks of the heart, it is speaking of the spirit. It is the spirit of man that is born again, not the mind or body. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. We know that old things passing away could not be referring to the body because we look the same right after we’re saved as we did before. And it could not be referring to the mind, because we still have the same old way of thinking until we renew our minds. Need Healing? Here's Why You Must Be Led by the Holy Spirit This is talking about the spirit of man. The spirit of a born again man is where the Holy Spirit abides. This is where all direction from God comes from. It is important that we look to the inward man for direction and revelation, not the mind or the body. This is how so many believers miss it. They are looking to their emotions or thoughts to gain direction. However, your emotions and unrenewed mind will mislead you every time. 2. We have a soul – this is the mind, will and emotions. The spirit and the soul are NOT the same. Many Bible scholars have not seen this truth, and thought that they were one and the same. The soul and the spirit are so closely joined together that it can be difficult to discern the difference. Hebrews 4:12 says: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, This verse reveals that the spirit and soul are separate aspects of man. It also shows us that only God’s Word can divide what is of the soul and what is of the spirit. Many times we can think we are hearing from God, but after extended time reading the Word of God and praying, it becomes clear what was God and what was our emotions or our own thoughts. 3. We live in a body – this is the house where our soul and spirit dwell and gives us access to the natural realm. Again, I want to emphasize that when God leads us, He leads through our spirit. The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, Searching all the inner depths of his heart. Proverbs 20:27 NKJV Every child of God can expect to be led by the Spirit of God. This is really just an introduction into a very important subject. Over the centuries, one of the things that has set the Church apart from the world is divine healing. Healing took place during the ministry of Jesus and was commonplace in the early Church. For several centuries, however, the revelation that God wants His people well was almost completely lost. Even after the healing revival of the 1940’s and 50’s, many people were still in the dark, not knowing that healing is the children’s bread. The devil has something to do with this. He doesn’t want people to receive divine healing, because it releases them from his grip on their lives. He tries every strategy to keep people from knowing that healing belongs to them, or to keep those who do know about healing from receiving it. I was in the first category, being raised in a denominational church that never taught divine healing. I didn’t ever hear of anybody being healed. One day that all changed. While I was in college, a close cousin shared with me that he had found a church where people were being healed! Curious to see for myself, I attended a service with him and saw that people really were getting healed. This was a dream come true for me. From that day until now, I have witnessed hundreds of healings, in other people, in my family, and in my own life. It’s too late to try to convince me that God no longer heals. Maybe you are reading this blog and hearing for the first time that God still heals. Continue reading, because what I’m about to share has the power to change your life! We know from the Bible that God always reveals to His prophets what He’s about to do in the earth. One of the most significant prophecies about the redemptive work of Christ is in the book of Isaiah. Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, And as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; And when we see Him, There is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isa 53:1-5 NKJV The New King James translation subtitles this passage, “The Sin-Bearing Messiah.” Multiple New Testament passages confirm that the Isaiah 53 passage refers to Jesus. One is in Acts chapter 8, when Philip joined an Ethiopian eunuch who was reading from Isaiah 53. So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. . . . So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. Acts 8:30-31, 34-35 NKJV Let’s focus on verses 4 and 5 in the Amplified Classic. Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. [Matt 8:17.] But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole. Isa 53:4-5 AMPC In this passage, we find three key things that Jesus provided for us in His redemption: 1. Jesus was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our guilt. The universal church agrees on this provision. As our substitute, Jesus paid the price for all our sins and He made it possible for us to live without guilt and shame. When we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we become born again: our spirit is made brand new and replaces our sin nature. 2. Jesus was chastised so that we could have peace and well-being. With this provision, Jesus paid the price for us to have a sound mind. The peace of God is part of our inheritance. In my opinion, this is the second most important benefit of redemption. Why? Because you can have a lot of great things in life, but without peace, you will not enjoy any of them. Furthermore, if you don’t have peace, you won’t receive bodily healing and live in health. I would highly recommend you get my book, Untroubled to help you further understand this wonderful provision. 3. Jesus took a brutal beating so that we could be healed and made whole. The third provision is that Jesus paid the price for us so that we no longer have to be sick or diseased. This was how God always intended man to live; there was no sickness in the garden of Eden that He created for Adam and Eve. It was only when they sinned and fell that sickness and disease were introduced—sin brought every cursed thing into the lives of people. But Jesus solved this problem! By conquering sin, Jesus also conquered sickness! This is what Isaiah saw when he looked ahead to Jesus’ sacrifice and prophesied that with His stripes, we ARE healed. Centuries later, when the apostle Peter looked back at the completed work of the cross, he changed the tense of that verb. …by whose stripes you were healed. 1 Peter 2:24 Since we WERE healed, it is a finished work! Now it only needs to be received by faith. Are you ready and willing to believe these truths from the Word of God? If so, you are ready to receive your healing by faith today! I have observed that two things people strive for above anything else are life and health. Man continues the age-old search to find man-made remedies for sickness and disease. Billions of djollars are spent each year and thousands of lives are dedicated to find cures for various diseases that destroy the quality of people’s lives. But God already gave us the remedy for every sickness and disease when He sent His Son, Jesus In, into this world. Thank God, Jesus came to set us free from this suffering. God not only wants you to receive healing, but He also wants you to have a life that you enjoy. In His Word God has given us a four-step recipe for making His blessings a reality in our lives. Here is “God’s Recipe for Life and Health.” Let’s look at Proverbs 4:20-22: My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. Here are four critical steps we find in this passage: 1. Attend to My Words. God is telling us that we can only find a good life and health through His Word. The Bible also says that Jesus is the living Word of God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Jesus said: I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 NKJV Jesus didn’t come to give mankind new rules to climb a heavenly stairway. Or to give us a new code of conduct. Or more religion. No, Jesus came to bring LIFE – so we might have life more abundantly! This life only comes through the Word of God. Through the Word we discover we can be healed. Through it we discover we have authority over all the power of Satan. This is why we must give attention to these words if we want to enjoy the life and health that is in them. 2. Incline your ear unto My sayings. We must learn to open our ears to God’s sayings and to close our ears to everything else. Listen to what God has to say, not to the many voices in our world. - Doctor’s reports: they may make diagnoses according to their knowledge and training, but if it’s bad news, don’t accept it as the final word. - Well-meaning family and friends: they might think they’re giving advise that will help, but if it contradicts the Word of God, reject it. - Drug commercials or health articles: For people who are not depending on God, this is their only hope. But believers have a better remedy. Most people won’t know what you know from God’s Word, so they won’t have the faith to encourage you to believe what He says. Who you choose to listen to is a matter of life or death, health or sickness. So it’s vital to surround yourself with the right voices if you want to have a quality life. 3. Do not let God’s Word depart from your eyes. We are to look as well as listen. The Bible says to keep our vision fixed on Jesus. Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. Heb 12:2 AMPC How do we do this? By feeding upon the written Word of God. As we spend more time meditating in God’s Word, Jesus becomes more real to us. When it comes to healing, we must keep our eyes on the Word. For example, if symptoms attack my body, keeping my eyes on the Word is the only way to keep my attention off the symptoms. I will read and say healing scriptures out loud and picture myself with the healing that already belongs to me. Then I will lift my hands and worship the Lord because He is a wonderful Healer! Romans 4:19 tells us that Abraham considered the condition of his and Sarah’s bodies when it came to having a child in their old age. However, he did not focus on that. We must develop our faith to the place where we no longer consult our bodies to determine if God’s Word is true. Hebrews 3:1 tells us what we should consider: Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus. We consider Jesus by focusing on what God’s Word says! 4. Keep God’s Words in the midst of your heart. Walking in life and health always starts in your heart (your spirit). You must believe in your heart that you are healed before you will feel or see it. It’s a mistake to look at your body to see if you are healed. The Bible says, “God is a Spirit” (John 4:24). Therefore, He heals you through your spirit. Divine healing always begins in your spirit and then is manifested in your body. Jesus said His Words are spirit: “The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life” (John 6:63). And according to Proverbs 4:20-22, this life gets into your spirit by: - attending to the Word of God. - inclining your ear to the Word of God. - keeping the Word of God before your eyes. - keeping the Word of God in the midst of your heart. It is only when the Word of God gets into your spirit, AND STAYS THERE, that those words become life and health to ALL your flesh. Follow these four steps and you will see God’s blessings become a reality in your life. They are “God’s Recipe for Life and Health”! If you’re dealing with sickness, pain, or any kind of physical struggle today, I want to speak directly to your heart. The message I’m about to share has the power to shift your perspective forever. Most people who are sick want one thing: to get well. But many don’t realize that God also wants them to get well. He wants your healing as much as you want it! Emphatically! Not “maybe.” Not “sometimes.” Not “if it’s His mysterious will.” God has already made His will absolutely clear. How? Through the beatings that Jesus took as our substitute. "…by whose stripes you were healed." - 1 Peter 2:24-25 NKJV The Father let Jesus bear your sickness and disease because they did not originate with Him. They are part of the curse, the result of Satan taking over this world’s system. The devil has never given anything good to anyone. But God provided His Son Jesus to restore what Satan took, including the health of His people. The Bible distinguishes between the works of Satan and the works of God. In John’s gospel Jesus stated this difference plainly: “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 NKJV This good news goes even further. Scripture tells us that Satan was completely defeated and his works were forever destroyed by Jesus. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Col 2:15 NKJV Now, you may be wondering, “If God already healed me, and if Satan has been defeated, why do I have symptoms of disease and pain in my body?” There is a simple reason: Satan does not follow the rules. He is still on the loose, illegally trying to put disease on people. And he will always get away with it—unless someone enforces his defeat. We see the same pattern in society today. Even though it is illegal to steal or kill people, we have criminals who do just that. They will get away with it—unless someone in authority arrests the criminal and stops his activity. Who has this authority to stop Satan’s illegal activity? You do! If you are a child of God, you have been given spiritual authority over all the works of the devil. Jesus said so in Luke 10:19: “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Since sickness and disease are powers of the enemy, then according to Jesus, we have authority over them. “All the power of the enemy” means…all! This authority over the enemy is what many Christians haven’t gotten into their spirits and minds. For many, the issue isn’t God’s willingness, or the devil’s power, or the sickness itself. Instead, for many the issue is how they identify themselves. Instead of seeing themselves as children of God invested with His authority, they have what I call a grasshopper mentality. They see themselves as small, weak, and powerless. An example of how people’s self-image affects the way they deal with an enemy is in the story of the twelve spies sent to assess the Promised Land. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel.” Num 13:1 NKJV The twelve spies spent forty days searching out the Promised Land. They all saw the same thing, but when they returned, they gave Moses and the people two different reports. Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Num 13:30-33 NKJV Ten of the spies gave a natural report: despite the abundance of every good thing, these spies focused on the devouring giants in the land. Joshua and Caleb, however, gave a faith report: the Israelites were well able to overcome the giants and to take the land. Even though they saw the enemy, they focused on what God had promised! Here’s the key: The giants were real—but so was God’s promise, and His promise trumped the giants. The difference between the reports was perspective—seeing the circumstance, but declaring God’s promises. Put another way, it’s a matter of who you agree with. Ten spies agreed with fear. Joshua and Caleb agreed with God. These two had the spirit of faith, and that spirit always agrees with God. It is not swayed by things that look large. Why is agreeing with God so important? Because you can never receive by disagreeing with Him. This is why many Christians don’t walk in healing—they disagree with God. Here’s what being “disagreeable” looks like: God says: “You are healed.”Disagreement says: “I guess I’m still sick.” God says: “You have authority.”Disagreement says: “I feel helpless.” God says: “The Greater One is in you.”Disagreement says: “The problem is too big.” The Israelites never entered the Promised Land—not because God didn’t give it to them, but because they refused to agree with God and move forward in their authority. In the same way, many believers never take possession of healing because they are “disagreeable” and therefore never use their authority to resist sickness. Are you facing a diagnosis that looks like a giant? Something that feels too big, too strong, or too permanent? Meditate on 1 John 4:4: “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” This verse tells you that God’s power in you is greater than the sickness in your body. Greater than the symptoms you feel. Greater than the doctor’s report. Greater than the giant standing in your way. You may feel small as a grasshopper, but the One inside you is not. Healing is not about your strength but His. You’re simply enforcing a victory that Jesus already won. Today, make a decision: Stop waiting for healing and start standing in the healing that already belongs to you. Don’t see yourself as a grasshopper but as God does—full of authority and power, and filled with the Greater One. Command sickness to leave your body. Tell Satan that you refuse to be sick. Enforce the victory Jesus purchased for you. Healing is not just a promise, it’s your inheritance!
